HR Manager (Part-Time 0.6 FTE)
Our client is looking for an experienced HR Manager with solid generalist experience to join the school, on a part-time basis, reporting to the Bursar and managing an HR Assistant.
If you are CIPD qualified, or equivalent, with end to end operational and strategic HR management experience, preferably within a school setting, and have strong UK employment law experience, read on to find out more!
HR ManagerResponsibilities
The part-time HR Manager role will include but not be limited to:
- Providing advice and guidance to the Head and Bursar in the strategic planning and management of the school staffing and people strategy, including managing HR budgets
- Managing employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner
- HR reporting to allow for informed decision making by the SLT and Governors
- Reviewing and updating policies and procedures and remaining updated on employment law updates, legislations, regulation, compliance, and the requirements of the school Inspectorate
- Conducting regular salary reviews and benchmarking and reporting to relevant stakeholders
- Working with finance to ensure accurate and smooth running of the payroll, pension and benefits schemes

HR ManagerExperience
To be successful in this part-time HR Manager role, you will be CIPD qualified, ideally level 7 or equivalent, and possess a high level of verbal and written English communication skills. You will have a strong generalist HR background with a demonstrable track record of liaising with, influencing and advising stakeholders at all levels within an organisation, and building trusted relationships. You will have experience of maintaining confidential information and adhering to data protection and GDPR practices. You will ideally have prior experience of working within a school/ education setting and possess comprehensive UK employment law knowledge and experience, with a commitment to continued learning. You will have a strong attention to detail and be organised, approachable and diplomatic. You will have solid experience managing the full employee lifecycle on all HR matters from supporting the SLT and leading the HR team to dealing with employee relations cases, reviewing and improving HR strategy that aligns with the overall organisation goals, to recruitment, appraisal and L&D to payroll and operational HR processes and procedures including reporting and compliance. You will manage 1 direct report and so previous leadership experience is required.
Location
This is an office-based role with 3 days per week at the school. Parking is available on-site. Due to the location of the school, applicants must be able to drive and have a car, and be local to Oxfordshire.
This role is part-time, on a 0.6 FTE permanent contract.
