Indirect Tax Manager, Financial Services

A leading Banking group is recruiting for an Indirect Tax specialist to join their established tax team, providing technical advice and compliance support across their various business operations. You will be responsible for providing specialist Indirect Tax advice and assessing the Indirect Tax risk for a range of products and services across various business areas. The role will predominantly be focused on the advisory side, with some interaction with the Indirect Tax Compliance team to ensure that processes and controls are in line with the tax risk framework.
The role will include:

• Supporting VAT compliance services, ensuring that the bank meets all HMRC imposed deadlines for the submission of VAT returns and other related reporting procedures
• Complying with all policies and delivering against statutory, regulatory, supervisory and legal obligations
• Delivering timely and accurate tax advice to business areas and projects, through a combination of regular front line tax technical input and people management
• Monitoring the external tax environment and briefing the business and senior management on new Indirect Tax developments, and providing training where appropriate
• Representing the bank in discussions with key external parties including audit teams, HMRC, external advisers and key industry bodies

You will need to be a qualified accountant or tax specialist (ACA/CTA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification Indirect Tax experience in Financial Services, including UK VAT reporting requirements, partial exemption and international services. You will need a strong knowledge of UK Indirect Tax legislation and a good working knowledge of overseas Indirect Tax regimes. You will need to demonstrate commercial awareness, especially in relation to Financial Services and products, with the communication skills to make complex Indirect Tax matters understood at all levels within the business.
