We’re looking for an exceptional Information and Records Manager to help us make a difference to our planet. The Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) function seeks to grow organisational capabilities by giving everyone access to the right information, knowledge and expertise to take informed decisions.

Whilst this is a temporary position for up until 12 months, there is potential for it to develop into a permanent position.
Our Information and Records Manager will be based in Exeter HQ, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Job description

The KIM team plays an essential role in defining and supporting sound knowledge and information management practices. The post holder supports the Head of KIM in delivering a comprehensive Information and Records management (IRM) function which meets the needs of users and supports and protects the organisation. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of business IRM policies and guidance reflecting relevant legislation, statutory obligations, standards and best practice, and you will manage and participate in projects and other activities that enable and support evolving business requirements to embed good IRM across the Met Office.

You will bring an enthusiastic and collaborative approach to raise the profile of the KIM function and through engagement, training and advisory services and translate your expertise into tactical improvements resulting in the growth of KIM capabilities across the organisation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, plan and deliver work packages to embed KIM best practice.
  • Ensure that legislation, regulation, standards and best practice is considered and incorporated into Met Office policy, ways of working, process and systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement through provision of our enquiry service, stakeholder engagement, auditing and reporting.
  • Advocate KIM policy and best practice, signposting and developing resources via networks and forums.
  • Mentor, coach and inspire others on KIM best practice.

Person specification

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

  • A relevant post-graduate qualification in Information and Records management and/or archives administration or equivalent, or comparable experience working in an Information and Records management role in a complex organisation, preferably within the public sector (Experts by Nature)
  • Demonstrable experience in providing specialist support in Information and Records management to key stakeholders and providing advice to projects and business change initiatives, to ensure compliance and alignment with KIM Principles and Policies, driving the holistic application of good practice
  • A proven record of internal and external stakeholder engagement, utilising a range of communication channels and methods to clearly and succinctly communicate with a varied audience including practitioner forums and networks, to influence change, share expertise, drive knowledge exchange and inform decision making (Better Together)
  • Experience in developing and maintaining policies, process and guidance reflecting relevant legislation, regulation, standards and best practice, translating these into user focused, accessible resources for a range of stakeholders to apply in day to day working
  • Practical experience of working with Microsoft 365 tools to implement Information and Records management policies.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

Benefits

Our reward package:

Your starting salary will be £41725.00 from 1st April 2024, and you will be able to progress towards £45257.00 over time.

As our Information and Records Manager , your total reward package is potentially worth up to £57639.00 annually, which includes basic salary, potential corporate bonus and employer pension contributions.
