The team you’ll work with:
HSBC Innovation Banking UK Credit team work very closely with our front-line Relationship teams to support execution of new to bank client and credit solutions, as well as the review of existing loan provisions. With delegated authority to approve debt facilities, this is a highly commercial, forward looking second line risk role that would suit someone with front-line experience in having led execution, and portfolio management of lending to companies within the innovation economy.

Reporting into our Head of Credit, you’ll enable loan growth within the banking book and help to ensure we maintain good credit quality whilst also supporting the delivery of strategic growth project initiatives across the platform.
What you can expect to be doing:
Credit risk management: This includes, assessing the credit quality and management of assigned loan portfolio, credit oversight of new loan business, credit approvals within delegated authority and sponsorship of credits for approval outside of delegated authority, as well as providing credit underwriting guidance, and collaboration with Relationship Management and Portfolio Management Leadership on broader strategic goals, risk appetite, credit strategy, and credit quality goals.
Review of credit approval memoranda: Assessing and assuring risk ratings are appropriate, accurate and correctly documented with robust and sound rationale before submission.
Meeting with Relationship Management and Portfolio Management to evaluate new loan opportunities and changes to existing loans: This includes, conducting appropriate levels of due diligence to assess the commercial viability of the loan, through qualitative and quantitative analysis to decide if risk is acceptable and identify areas for additional due diligence.
Quarterly portfolio reviews with each assigned team:Review every loan relationship in your assigned portfolios, with emphasis on risk rating, trends, and compliance with loan covenants and reporting requirements.
Identify areas of weakness in the portfolio and provide guidance as to their remediation. Work closely with lending to ensure that portfolio management disciplines/practices are consistently applied.
