How you'll make a difference
Here are some comments from parents who have been helped by Families Plus workers:
‘The work we’ve done with you means our daughter is communicating her feelings more easily than before, which is helping enormously.’
Current members of the Families Plus 5-18 team have said that the most rewarding aspects of their job are:
“When you have worked really hard to build a relationship and engage a family or young person, or even help them change their way of thinking and all of a sudden, they have a lightbulb moment and something changes”.
“The Privilege of getting to know and support families at the most difficult times in their lives, to have the opportunity to build relationships with them and to be trusted with their personal and sensitive information.”
- You will liaise and work with contacts from different sectors; including schools, health, social care and voluntary sector ensuring that communication is effective so knowledge and best practice is shared.
What we need from you
- You must be resilient to be able to keep going despite knockbacks and frustrations and to hold the level of emotions displayed and the complexity of families.
You will be required to travel widely within the authority so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car or have access to appropriate means of travel.
How a career at South Gloucestershire Council is different
- We know our team work best when they have balance in their lives and we offer genuine flexibility to help them achieve that work/life balance.
- We value our staff as individuals, investing in their careers and we are recognised for the quality, breadth and depth of our training and development offer, which helps make the greatest long-term difference in work.
- We have invested in the technology and support to enable staff to work seamlessly from home so we can ensure we are keeping staff safe during Covid-19. For those staff who may need to work in the office we have also ensured that our offices and hubs are Covid secure; and have measures in place such as one way systems, socially distanced work stations and hand sanitizer stations throughout our premises.
- We're building and shaping communities which people are proud of
- We're working with the most vulnerable in our community to help them achieve what they want in life
- We're investing in our schools to ensure every child and young person in South Gloucestershire achieves their full potential.
We’re making a difference, be part of it!
