International Student Adviser

Position Type: Professional Location: Marylebone This post is part-time and permanent, working 28 hours per week. The salary stated above is the pro-rata amount, the full time salary would be £45,791 – £50,855 per annum (Incl. LWA). We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced immigration adviser to join our busy Student Advice team.   Student Advice is part of the Student Advice and Funding team within the Student and Academic Services (SAS) directorate at the University of Westminster. SAS deliver a wide range of support services for students, including disability learning support, counselling, wellbeing, student funding, scholarships, inter faith advice, career development and library services. Student Advice provide specialist advice and support to current and prospective University of Westminster students on a wide range of practical issues including student finance, welfare benefits and visa advice. This post focuses on visa advice and support for International Students.  Along with the Student Advisers, the International Student Advisers provide a high level of specialist advice and support to prospective and current International Students and their dependents on the student visa requirements and application process, including advice on rejections and refusals. You will have a good working knowledge of Immigration for EU nationals, alternative visa options for International Students and visas for family members of UK and EU nationals.   You will give one-to-one advice as well as deliver workshops to groups of students and will work in close co-operation with the Universities Visa Compliance team who are responsible for maintaining the Universities Student Sponsor Licence. You will also need a sound understanding of Home/Overseas fee status Regulations. You will need to demonstrate a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the Immigration Rules, application procedures and Student Sponsor Licence compliance requirements. You will ideally have recent experience of working in a visa advice service, preferably in Higher Education.  Please note that we are currently hybrid working with at least one day a week on site.  Interviewees will be expected to take a short test of their knowledge of the Immigration Rules as they relate to students and to make a short presentation.   To apply for this vacancy please click above.
