Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance - this post is subject to BPSS checks. You will therefore be required to consent to and comply with BPSS checking requirements prior to commencing in this post. This check involves verification of identity; nationality and immigration status; employment history (past 3 years) and basic criminal record check.

The Housing Compliance team regulates housing conditions in the private rented sector and also investigates complaints relating to the harassment and/or illegal eviction of tenants. When landlords of privately rented properties fail to undertake repairs to homes to remove health and safety hazards or continue to harass or illegally evict tenants, we have a range of enforcement powers. This can lead to prosecution in court or the issuing of civil fines up to £30,000.
Your role will support a team of housing enforcement officers in taking formal enforcement action against landlords of privately rented properties in Manchester. You will gain an understanding of investigative and legal processes so you can assist enforcement officers. You will undertake a range of legal administrative duties such as preparing legal documents and case files. You will undertake a range of investigative tasks such as contacting/visiting tenants for information, taking witness statements and speaking with landlords to explain action being taken against them. You will liaise with legal services, attend tribunals and court appointments to support enforcement officers and monitor the payment of fines that are issued.
