The Team
The IT Operations Centre, (ITOC), is an evolving team within IT Services and are responsible for the monitoring of system health, the availability and capacity of live services, and are accountable for the execution of disaster recovery and continuity of critical services. The ITOC also provides monitoring, escalation, intervention, operational maintenance and support, dashboards and reporting functions for all University services and infrastructure.
The Role
The IT Operations Centre (ITOC) Tooling Engineer works to horizon scan, implement and manage key ITOC tools for monitoring and reporting. The candidate will need to design and implement solutions that enable BAU work, integrate tools (via APIs or other tech), generate outputs, reports, dashboards across multiple tools. These solutions enable the University to monitor and react proactively to meet business capabilities and drive its targeted business outcomes. The ITOC Tooling Engineer will provide analysis and design around the development of the ITOC tooling solutions within IT Services.
The role will be joining the newly formed Technology division, comprising teams who look after core technology functions for the University. The ITOC Tooling Engineer will be a key member of the leadership team within the Technology division and will deputise for the ITOC Manager as required.
The Person
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:
- Tooling design and implementation experience in IT, with a knowledge of one or more of the following tools Zabbix, Splunk, Solarwinds, Azure Sentinel, Tanium, Azure Cloud, AWS Cloud.
- Understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies
- Experience of applying multiple technical solutions or alternatives and estimating their financial impacts to enable future-state business capabilities that drive targeted business outcomes.
- Broad technical knowledge across a range of technologies including networks, infrastructure, and applications.
