BNP Paribas Real Estate is a one-of-a-kind real estate specialist business, with multiple business lines providing residential and commercial property sales, property facilities and management through to farmland and country estate advice and management.
We have embarked on an exciting programme of activity which involves identifying and enhancing the possibilities with our data, to transform BNP Paribas Real Estate into a data-enabled organisation. The skilled use of data-driven insights and technology is key aspect of real estate management, and this has been recognised across the business.
We are therefore looking for an experienced SQL Developer to work in the Business Systems function of our IT department. The role will work alongside the existing software development and change management teams to continue to develop and enhance our data warehouse and database integrations.
This exciting opportunity will: work closely with key stakeholders and the Head of Data Transformation to determine business intelligence requirements; develop corresponding data structures; feed intelligence platforms; driving strategy and innovation.
Our current database environment incorporates applications that: manage property and client data; manage jobs from forecast fees through to invoicing; and strategic financial planning. The central data warehouse is in its early stages of conception and will form the core of this role’s responsibilities.
As a SQL subject matter expert, you may also be called upon to assist in the support and troubleshooting of complex data integrations between operational data platforms.
Typical Role Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Head of Data Transformation to deliver against an evolving set of data-related requirements
- In conjunction with the Head of Development, ensure that best practice SQL development is implemented
- Liaise with key stakeholders to understand and challenge the data requirements
- Design and create databases with efficient structures
- Create functions and stored procedures
- Write optimised queries, views and triggers for integration with other applications
- Prepare high-level designs and help to produce technical and ETL mapping specification
- Recognise where existing procedures and ETL processes can be tuned for performance and optimal server load
- Troubleshooting data issues and anomalies to determine the best resolution
- Support and maintain existing SQL integrations and developments
- Regularly liaise with project managers, business analysts and developers
- Designing databases with both front-end and back-end users in mind
Necessary Skills/Experience
- Expert in Microsoft SQL Server
- Proficient in development using SSIS
- Background in reporting and business intelligence tools, including SSRS
- Experience of working within a development environment
- Understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling
- Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Great communication skills and adept at working with all types of stakeholders

Desirable Qualifications
- Formal IT qualification (A Level, HND/HNC/BTEC or degree)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in database architecture, or a related field
- MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred
