IT Systems Administrator

An exciting opprtunity to join a Manchester based market leading business.
Role Purpose: To deliver comprehensive IT support services across the organization, ensuring proactive assistance to users and systems in alignment with business requirements. The role involves managing IT equipment and infrastructure, providing specialized IT consultation, and maintaining a high standard of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborative IT Services:
- Work collaboratively within a cross-site team to deliver IT services to internal users.
- Provide support, knowledge, and tools for the efficient operation of business systems.
- Specialized IT Consultation:
- Offer professional IT consultation and advice within the area of expertise.
- Proactively manage and maintain systems under your purview.
- Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee the management of IT equipment and infrastructure to meet business needs.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize servers and systems for peak performance.
- Helpdesk Management:
- Log and update support calls promptly using the Helpdesk package.
- Maintain regular communication with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Technical Support:
- Provide both routine and advanced technical support, resolving incidents and identifying root causes.
- Implement recommendations to prevent future service disruptions.
- Hardware/Software Configuration:
- Build, configure, and upgrade IT equipment, servers, and workstations.
- Conduct installations of patches, service packs, and new software as required.
- Server Monitoring:
- Monitor servers and systems, promptly resolving issues to ensure optimal performance.
- Undertake routine repairs and upgrades, documenting and escalating major issues.
- System Testing and Inventory:
- Conduct regular system testing and release activities.
- Maintain and document an up-to-date inventory of all hardware and software.
- Asset Management:
- Ensure the Group Asset Management database is accurately maintained.
- Project Support:
- Collaborate with project teams to complete tasks within the defined scope and timelines.
- Documentation:
- Produce and update clear and concise documentation for builds, standards, and departmental processes.
Critical Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Effective prioritization to ensure customer-centric service.
- Quick assimilation of knowledge for new programs and applications.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on discretion.
Critical Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
- Proficiency in Windows 2003 Server configuration and administration.
- Expertise in Group Policy implementation and administration.
- Familiarity with network management practices, TCP/IP services, and DNS.
- Hands-on experience in server hardware maintenance, installation, and commissioning.
- Awareness of current server technologies and trends, as well as desktop operating systems and hardware.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Undertake ad hoc projects and duties as required to support business needs and achieve departmental objectives.
