About the Role
As an IT Technical Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and monitoring our computer systems and networks, and for providing technical assistance to over 400 end users. You will be key in solving technical problems and will play an important role in the maintenance and development of IT systems, working on various IT projects within the business.
Reporting to the IT Operations Manager, your key responsibilities within this role will include:
- Supporting to a diagnostic level of Windows Server OS, such as Group Policy, Windows Server Updates (WSUS), DNS, and Active Directory.
- Deploying operating systems with automated technologies (MDT & WDS)
- Undertaking project work to design and implement new systems to support the business
- The management and support of VMWare vSphere environment.
- Managing backup systems using Veeam, and perform backup and restore testing.
- Supporting to a diagnostic level of Windows Desktop OS, including operating system patching, application installation, and troubleshooting.
- Working with Sophos Central - Anti-virus, Connect (VPN), and Wireless.
- IP Network including configuration of switches/routers/firewalls.
- Monitoring and maintenance of computer systems and networks.
- Working with Cisco Webex along with Cisco Collaboration endpoint hardware management
- Microsoft Teams management.
- Management, deployment, and support of Citrix XenApp
- Maintaining documentation for end users and IT staff
- Testing and evaluating new technologies
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of technical and industry developments
- Taking part in on-call rota to provide out of hours support.
About You
The Essential
The successful candidate should have a relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalent, along with a minimum of 5 years’ technical experience.
You should be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas:
- Active Directory and Group Policy
- Microsoft Windows Server
- Backup and replication technologies using Veeam
- Citrix XenApp – deployment and management
- VMware vSphere
- Office 365 including Microsoft Teams
Demonstrable teamwork skills are key, along with strong interpersonal and customer care capabilities.
The Desirable
We ideally would like to see experience in any of the following:
- Cisco Switching
- Cisco Webex
- IT security A/V Firewalls
- Networks and Wide Area Networks
- Cisco IP telephony
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL
- Basic knowledge of Operational Technology (Factory control systems)
