IT Technician

Salary: Grade 4, SP9-12 (£25,119 to £27,334)

How will you spend your days?
ICT technicians provide 1st line support to look after school networks, install, order and maintain software and hardware and provide technical support to teachers and pupils.
ICT technicians work in a hub as part of the trust wide IT team and support the staff and pupils within our schools. Your day-to-day work usually involves:
- resolving IT issues reported through our service desk ticketing system
- maintaining the school's network
- installing new software and upgrading existing applications
- providing technical support for teachers and pupils
- running diagnostics
- maintaining hardware peripherals (e.g. visualisers, printers, external drives)
- ensuring systems are safe and offer full child protection
- training teachers and students
- liaising with suppliers on maintenance or licensing
Skills and experience you’ll need
- you will need to enjoy working in a learning environment and have great patience, diplomacy and good communication skills
- knowledge of operating systems, networking, hardware and software commonly used in schools
- good problem-solving skills
- good organisational skills
- the ability to explain problems and solutions clearly to non-technical users
- the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- a patient and methodical approach
- the ability to work alone or as part of a team
- an awareness of health and safety
