The main objective of the Kitchen Porter role will be to operate both independently and as part of a team to ensure the cleanliness and smooth operation of the sites utensils and equipment. Hygiene and health and safety is at the centre of this key role ensuring the safe use of chemicals and careful handling of all manner of kitchen and FOH apparatus. It is essential that this role be met with drive and determination to ensure fast and quality cleaning is upheld reporting directly to kitchen staff and managers in a team playing role.
Key Objectives and Responsibilities
· The main responsibilities of the Kitchen Porter will be in the cleaning, organising and replenishment of kitchen equipment and utensils. However, you will occasionally be asked to help out in small tasks in the kitchen in order to develop and progress your skills.
· In this role you must deliver an excellent standard of service and professionalism.
· Quality and consistency in cleanliness and organisation are a key element to making sure a successful operation of the business is maintained in this role.
· Due to the open nature of the kitchen the Kitchen Porter must set high standards of personal presentation and behaviour at all times.
· A positive attitude must be adopted towards teamwork, contributing to the smooth running of the site, and interacting productively with other departments.
Operational Duties
· Preparing the KP area for the days events with all the key cleaning equipment and chemicals you will need throughout service.
· Ensure the entire KP area and extending kitchen and BOH area is clean and hygienic, and remains that way for the entirety of service, making sure that at the end of the day it is cleaned down to an exceptional standard.
· Occasionally helping with the restocking of food items throughout the day in line with requests from the kitchen and management, communicating any issues or low stock levels to line managers.
· Ensuring you are following procedure and practising protocol in health and safety reporting anything pertinent to line managers.
