Location: The Francis Crick Institute, Midland Road, London Short summary The ASF is now looking to recruit an enthusiastic Molecular Biologist on a maternity cover basis. We are looking for a candidate with experience in Spatial Omics technologies to lead our team’s effort in this field. However, if the ideal candidate with this specialised expertise is not found, we are open to considering candidates with general genomics experience. Working as part of a team of experts you will help the ASF in its mission to deliver timely and high-quality data. Responsibilities include managing sample submissions and quality control, preparing libraries, operating sequencing platforms, and using automation where appropriate. Our facility has recently expanded its capacities in spatial analysis, presenting exciting opportunities for the successful candidate to engage with cutting-edge projects in this domain, depending on their expertise and interests. To apply for this role, you should be a highly motivated and competent laboratory scientist with a background in biology and preferably with previous experience in spatial technologies. You should be capable of effortlessly switching between high throughput working methods and creative thinking to solve problems as they arise and be confident and calm under pressure. Key Responsibilities These include but not limited to; Support various research projects using genomics technologies, with a focus on Spatial Omics if experienced. Prepare NGS libraries following standard operating procedures. Operate sequencing platforms and robotic sample preparation instruments. Perform Spatial Omics experiments using established protocols. Assist researchers at the Crick in the design and execution of Spatial Omics projects. Maintain accurate laboratory records and communicate effectively with colleagues. Assess result of individual projects and suggest improvements based on performance Liaise with equipment providers for standard problems and issues.
