Lead Engineer - Golang & Kubernetes

An experienced GoLang & KubernetesLead Engineer is needed to join our team at Qumulus Technologies, a dynamic cloud solutions startup based in Manchester on a full-time basis. The role is office-based, with modern facilities within the Salford Innovation Forum.

We are embarking on an exciting project to develop a hosted Kubernetes service with a focus on a hosted control plane and software-defined storage, all built on open-source technology.

In addition, we will be offering a managed suite of popular open-source development tools. This infrastructure will support our Internal Developer Portal.

About Us

Qumulus is a dynamic startup based in Manchester, pioneering in providing open-source private cloud solutions at an affordable subscription rate. We are proud recipients of the UK Innovation Smart Grant, enabling us to build a talented founding team of 9 developers tasked with creating a robust Internal Developer Portal utilising Kubernetes and a suite of cutting-edge open-source tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and deployment of our managed Kubernetes-based infrastructure service
• Develop and maintain scalable and fault-tolerant systems using open-source technologies
• Leverage the latest Kubernetes features to enhance our platform’s functionality.
• Integrate a variety of open-source tools to optimise performance and user experience
• Manage the full software development lifecycle, from conception to deployment and maintenance
• Maintain documentation of configurations, operations, and troubleshooting procedures
• Participate in on-call rotations for critical issue resolution and system uptime.

Required Skills:

• You have extensive experience in Kubernetes environments and an intricate understanding of all things Kubernetes
• You possess deep expertise in Go / Golang and have a solid background as a senior software engineer
• You are skilled in open-source and cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• You take full ownership of projects and are adept at driving them from start to finish
• Previous experience with Python is advantageous but not required
• You have strong communication and collaboration skills
