NRL are currently recruiting on behalf of one of our large clients for a Lead Shift Engineer on a permanent basis based in Uxbridge 
 
General Overview:
Provision of all-round engineering support, maintaining the building infrastructure. Have a detailed understanding of all new or current Building Services systems and contingency procedures within the buildings, and complying with the Health & Safety/building codes of practice. It is the Shift Leaders role to act as a co-ordination point for the day-to-day activities on site between the shift team, specialist service partners and on-going project works. The Shift Leader is responsible for ensuring that all activities within the building are undertaken with a professional and conscientious outlook with regards to the quality of work and Health & Safety, maintaining the 100% uptime criteria. The Shift Leader will ensure that there are excellent standards of response to plant failures, completion of assigned work and ensure any abnormal operating conditions and housekeeping issues are dealt with proficiently. As part of the Shift Leader role you will be expected to have/gain the required HV qualification.
 
Impact:
To be familiar with and understand the site contingency plans for dealing with emergency situations. With the diverse nature of our customers business and continued up time being a priority, means essential maintenance may need to be carried outside of normal hours and therefore a flexible approach to work is essential. The shift rota is a 4 on 4 off days ( 0700-1900) & nights ( 1900 – 0700) , of 12 hours shifts. To conform to standards, rules and procedures. To carry out scheduled maintenance tasks, repairs and operations of equipment and services in accordance with best practice. To ensure that all third party contractors that are requested to carry out work on site, do so in a safe and professional manner and abide by any company or site specific procedures. To ensure that the Contracts Manager is kept informed of all aspects of safety performance, plant performance and customers circumstances that may impact upon the safe, efficient, reliable and cost effective operation of the plant and smooth operation of the plant. To be familiar with all Company and site procedures, which affect him/her, assist the Contract Manager in the completion of all administrative tasks identified by the Cofely quality systems or as required by the Customer. To assist in producing Method Statements and Risk Assessments. To assist with the planning of the statutory insurance inspections. To report all incidents and accidents, including near misses to the Contracts Manager To complete all administrative functions correctly and promptly.
To be aware of the key financial targets for the site and, in conjunction with the Contracts Manager, carry out his responsibilities in the most cost effective manner To seek opportunities to enhance the Company’s relationship with its existing customers and develop business potential To lead initiatives and carry out other duties and projects as delegated or instructed by the Contracts Manager
 
Complexity:
The role requires the Shift leader to assist the Contracts Manager to operate on a daily basis with self-autonomy dealing with everything from SHEQ, personnel management, subcontractor management, contract management, budget control, engineering planning and execution, planned preventative maintenance, etc.
 
The Operation will include:
  • Building Management Systems and electrical monitoring
  • Control system
  • Air handling, conditioning and terminal units - FCU and CRAC
  • Cooling tower plant
  • Domestic water services
  • Fire prevention and detection systems
  • Sprinklers and wet risers
  • Fire alarm and voice alarm
  • VESDA
  • Fire suppression
  • Variable speed drives
  • Generators, load banks and controls
  • AC, DC single phase and three phase motors
  • UPS systems, batteries, static switches and associated controls
  • Emergency lighting
  • Low voltage switch panels and associated breakers
  • High voltage switch panels and the operation of high voltage systems (11kV) including transformers and VCB’s (training and familiarisation with this system will be made available)
  • Boiler Operation and Water Treatment Testing Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical maintenance techniques Understanding of all relevant legislative and statutory requirements relating to the site Control and implementation of Safe Systems of Work To assist the Maintenance Manager in the preparation of site budgets. Take responsibility for controlling Engineering Bought in Costs for the site. Assist with preparing monthly reports to indicate main areas of spend for use in trending of information.
 
 
Qualifications or Required Experience:
Apprenticeship, primary trade qualifications and substantial experience within a building services environment. HV/LV Authorised
C&G 236 Parts 1 and 2 or mechanical equivalent
17th 18th Edition IEE: Wiring & Installation
Previously/Current HV Authorised Person Critical services environment experience
Proficient level of IT skills Ability to effectively work under pressure Ability to diagnose faults and recommend appropriate solutions Ability to communicate at all levels both verbally and in writing Confident and positive Reliable Able to work alone and Supervise a team.
