This is a Leadership and clinical fellow post consisting of 60% clinical responsibilities at ST3-level and 40% time committed to fulfilling Leadership and management projects set by HEE and the Endoscopy Academy team. During COVID Gastroenterology SPRs lost time in endoscopy training. HEE is supporting development of an Endoscopy Academy, aiming to streamline endoscopy training, allowing high intensity training in ST4-5 years. In order to develop the academy, and support Gastroenterology SpRs maximising endoscopy experience we have developed these fellow posts. These posts have a dual role:
1. Work with the Endoscopy Academy to develop the training programme, including organisational structure and logistics
2. Provide clinical service within Gastroenterology departments, in particular ward-based clinical care and Gastroenterology clinics. Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provide hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon. These include:
• Croydon University Hospital
• Purley Hospital
• The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
• Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside
• A minor injuries unit in New Addington The Trust was formed on 1st August 2010 through the integration of Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust. It would suit candidates who are planning a career in Hospital Medicine. The post could include clinical sessions in gastroenterology and would be particularly suitable for, but not dependent upon, someone interested in a career in Gastroenterology. They will be expected to work flexibly across the various sub-specialties within gastroenterology contributing to acute medical takes, inpatient care, outpatient clinics, MDMs and also to the team research portfolio. The post holder are able to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training, including educational supervision of medical students. This advert closes on Tuesday 13 Feb 2024
