Imperial College London are offering an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team of specialists to support the successful selection, implementation and adoption of a next generation Learning Management System (LMS).
As part of the wider project team, you will play a critical role in driving the project forward, engaging with staff within ICT and stakeholders across the College. This will involve a range of activities throughout the lifecycle of the project from developing user requirements to conducting training for users and UAT of the new LMS. This role is crucial for enhancing the learning experience for students, streamlining and standardising processes and supporting our staff in delivering a high-quality educational experience for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as non-degree learners.
What you will be doing
- Contribute to the development of user stories, facilitate the smooth transition from existing systems to the new LMS, including developing new processes and facilitating training (for students and staff).
- Participate as a member of the LMS Project team and ICT Digital Education. Platforms, including involvement in regular team meetings and communications, and as a member of the College-wide learning and teaching support community.
- Work across product lines/areas to identify common needs, requirements and ensure consistent solutions, facilitating collaboration between stakeholders who share common objectives.
- Capture, explore and collate system feedback, concerns, errors and development needs.
- Support and participate in all product evaluations, e.g. proof of concept, feature review, user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Develop, document and implement relevant processes to take advantage of a new LMS, applying exceptional attention to detail.
- Participate in briefings, demonstrations, resource creation and workshops for Academic Staff, Teaching Fellows and Professional Services Staff to support the move to a new LMS.
As a direct report to the Head of Education Platforms, you will work alongside another Learning Technologist in ICT and be part of a wider project team to deliver the next generation LMS. The Education Platforms team also include six Digital Education Support Analysts that you will work closely with.
You will be expected to build positive relationships with the College-wide learning and teaching support community. This is an outstanding opportunity to help craft the future at the College and ensure we are providing a world-class digitally supported educational experience.
Location
South Kensington, London SW7, with remote working days. On occasion you will attend meetings at other College sites.
Duties and responsibilities
- You will provide day to day support and subject matter expertise for the software products, platforms and services that underpin teaching and learning.
- You will be part of a team working in an agile manner, allowing new digital education technologies to be employed quickly.
- You will be responsible for the delivery of training for key centrally supported digital education services.
- You will build working customer relationships with respect to digital education activities, contributing to decisions which influence the success of deliverables and team objectives, collaborating regularly with team members, stakeholders and suppliers.
- You will contribute to continuous improvement, helping identify and address additional service requirements or service shortfalls.
- You will bring capabilities that underpin communication, coordination, and collaboration to support College teaching and learning.
Essential requirements
- A degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a technology related subject area.
- Experience of using digital technology to support education, ideally in a university environment.
- Demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for the use of digital technology in education.
- Experience of teaching/ training others in the use of new digital systems and/ or software.
- Understanding of project management techniques and methods.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders, including those without a technical background.

Hybrid working may be considered for this role. Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
