The client will provide a route to becoming qualified and will support this financially.
Location: Liverpool City Centre
Hours: 35 hours per week
You will be the first point of contact with clients and will handle telephone enquiries, assessing if their enquiry is a matter that we can assist with under the Equality Act 2010.
If so, you will open a file on the case management system and check their eligibility for legal aid. You will carry out the first stage of the legal process, obtaining the relevant details and documents from the client, and preparing the file to be handed over to a solicitor.
- You will also from time to time assist solicitors with legal casework.
- Build a positive relationship with each client and help them manage their expectations to deliver the appropriate outcome.
- Ensure accuracy in all aspects of claims handling including setting up the file adhering to Legal Aid requirements and legislation.
- To deliver detailed and written advice to individuals under supervision from a solicitor or trainee solicitor
- To deal with new client queries, mainly by way of telephone advice and electronically to clients.
- Dealing with existing clients, by phone, e-mail, and letter.
- To be responsible for own administrative requirements including filing case-recording, photocopying, creating case files, bundles, typing letters and other correspondence with assistance from other administrative personnel and volunteers when appropriate and available.
