Legal And Compliance Lead

A fast-growing SaaS business is looking for a Legal and Compliance lead to join COO team in London and will be tasked with helping them deliver continued growth of the business. This is a new role for the firm, but they see this role as key to the long term development of the firm as it matures and grows internationally. You will ensure the firm operate with compliant and sensible business processes as well as manage our data privacy program. Your first projects will include managing the ISO compliance as well as audits, GDPR compliance, building out their privacy page, and helping to get them SOC 2 ready.

What are the role requirements?

In this role, you will be expected to:

• Managing the firm's privacy and Compliance roadmap. Including owning and reviewing the organisation's global data protection compliance arrangements, updating policies and centralizing processes.
• Developing and maintaining internal data privacy policies, providing training on data protection regulations like GDPR, and ensuring awareness of privacy issues across the organisation.
• Conducting training sessions for employees on legal matters such as compliance requirements, privacy policies, and acceptable use policies.
• Guiding the firm's legal compliance across a variety of areas including, data protection laws, industry regulations, terms and conditions and payment terms.
• Implementing scalable legal processes that support business growth while ensuring compliance.
• Providing (and coordinating with external counsel) legal advice to various departments on issues like marketing campaigns, sales agreements, and new product releases.
• Offering guidance on legal implications of data handling practices and assist in due diligence reporting during fundraising rounds.
• Partnering with external law firms or consultancy firms for expert advice on a variety of legal issues as the company scales.

Required Experience.

• Minimum of 5 years' of Legal experience
• Experience of working within a SaaS or technology company.
• Qualified Lawyer (can be overseas qualified)
• Experience of ISO projects as well as having good knowledge and experience around privacy and Security.
• Experience of developing a compliance program
