Legal Cashier

Our client, based in Haywards Heath, are looking to hire an experienced Legal Cashier.

We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to a fast-growing practice. Other than relevant experience, we would like the successful candidate to have the right character and mindset who doesn't mind rolling their sleeves up and getting on with the task at hand. Someone who enjoys taking responsibility, is able to use their common sense and has a firm grasp of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.

Responsibilities

• Invoicing
• Bank reconciliation
• Sales and purchase ledger
• Payments
• Client/ Office transfers
• CHAPS transfers, processing client payments, producing and checking completion statements and billing
• Receiving, checking and paying consultant invoices
• Paying supplier invoices
• VAT returns
• Month end reporting
• Operating our case management system Actionstep
• Operating Xero
• Monthly payroll processing
• Liaising with and supporting the consultant solicitors
• Liaising with and supporting the retained team
• Dealing with client queries
• Managing outstanding debts
• Keeping records up to date and comply with Solicitors Accounts rules and VAT regulations
• Keep abreast of new rules and regulations from the SRA
• Following the file closing process to ensure client files are dealt with correctly

Experience / Skills

Applicants should have:

• Some good academic results
• An ability to work well independently and use your own initiative, but also react positively to management and be able to delegate and supervise work within your own team
• A meticulous eye for detail and an eloquent and precise way with words
• High service and presentation standards
• IT skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• An ability to calmly and humorously deal with a busy workload and demanding clients
• An enthusiasm to take on new challenges and broaden your knowledge base and skills set

Job Title: Legal Cashier

Location: Haywards Heath

Salary: 35,000 - 38,000 per annum, depending on experience

Full Time: Monday - Thursday, 9am-6pm, Friday 9am-5pm
