Harrogate town centre location, working hours Monday to Friday 8:30-5:00pm, 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays, discounted legal fees, social lunches.

We are currently recruiting a Legal Cashier or Accounts Assistant to join this well established firm of solicitors in Harrogate town centre. You will work in a small friendly team, reporting directly to the Practice Manager. The main purpose of this role is to manage all accounts processes for the firm in accordance to the ILFM regulations.

Responsibilities include:

• Processing all banking transactions and reconciliations
• Preparation of cheques, bank payments and processing bank transfers
• Review and process solicitors bills of costs
• Processing statements before conveyancing completion takes place
• Processing receipts and payments on day of completion
• Processing purchase ledger
• Opening new matters on the system and ensure all due diligence (AML forms) are completed
• Administration of staff holidays
• Assist with month end and financial year end accounting procedures
• Manage the firm's petty cash system
• Assist with preparation of VAT returns
• Step up to provide cover for the Practice Manager when on holiday
• Other adhoc duties as required

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Legal Cashier would be preferred but not essential
• Knowledge and understanding of Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
• Qualified or part qualified AAT, ICAEW, ILFM
• A good solid understanding of accounts processing
• Experience as an Accounts Assistant or working in an accounts environment
• Good IT skills including excel and accounting software
• Accurate numeracy and literacy skills
• An understanding of the SRA accounts rules 2019 preferred

This Legal Cashier role would suit someone who has worked in a similar environment as a Legal Cashier in a solicitors firm or has worked as an accounts assistant or finance assistance. You will have a good understanding of accounts processing and ideally have an understanding of the Solicitor Regulation Authority rules 2019.
