Job description

NLC 7 (£27,961 - £30,518)

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of the day to day operation of library service points in a designated area, the effective support of the service-wide theme of Reader Development or support Digital Inclusion and the provision of a full range of professional support services in accordance with North Lanarkshire Council Policies and Procedures.

Key areas of work will include, helping to secure within the resources available, responsive, effective and efficient services within the designated area, providing the best available professional assistance and advice and supporting the management and co-ordination of all relevant thematic activities and resources across the authority to achieve their maximum potential and effectiveness and bringing forward recommendations as appropriate. This will include introducing and hosting author events.

You must hold a degree in Librarianship/Information Science or relevant first degree plus post-graduate qualification in librarianship/Information science or equivalent and hold a chartership qualification or be working towards one. You will have experience in dealing with public, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.

You will have the ability to assist and deal with a wide range of ICT packages and platforms, including social media, experience of operating automated library management systems and a good knowledge of current library practices.

The post holder will be required to travel throughout North Lanarkshire.

This position is temporary until 31st May 2025.

Work Pattern:

Monday 9am to 5pm, Tuesday 11am to 7pm and Wednesday to Friday 9am to 5pm

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
