Job Introduction

Library and Information Assistant

Salary - £23,114 - £23,893 pro rata (Grade 3)

Wednesfield Library x 15 hours per week

Contract type - part time, permanent

We are seeking to appoint Library and Information Assistants to work at various locations across the City. The successful applicants will assist in providing high quality services to the public through both front-line and clerical support duties. The posts will require lone working and responsibility for opening and closing library buildings where applicable.

Applicants should have an understanding of the range of skills needed in a modern, vibrant, and sustainable library service as duties will range from storytelling to IT support. Ideally applicants will come from a library background but this is not essential as full training will be given. You must be flexible, enthusiastic and enjoy working with the public.

Applicants should have a minimum of 3 GCSE’s or equivalent (including English & Maths) and be computer literate. Good communication skills are also essential.

Our working arrangements

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empowers employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocation where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
