About the role

  • Be responsible for maintaining service standards within designated branches across different types of opening hours; volunteer supported and technology enabled
  • Develop & maintain knowledge of local communities and use the information to develop partnerships and services that feed into service planning
  • Be responsible for the management, development and deployment of staff across various libraries, including volunteers
  • Work with the Service Development Team to develop and deliver themes such as stock promotion, reader development services to disadvantaged groups, outreach and income generating activities
  • Be responsible for security of council assets, i.e. buildings, vehicles, IT, stock, cash and delivery of all services at a designated service point
  • Line manage and support Assistant Library Customer Service Manager(s) in the delivery of customer focused services across a number of libraries
  • Develop and implement income generation plans
  • Experience of implementing and ensuring compliance with complex legislative requirements, including, safeguarding and health and safety
  • Experience of delivering excellent Customer Services
  • Experience of managing volunteers
  • Experience of recruiting, managing and developing teams to ensure excellent service delivery
  • Experience of working with senior management to develop and deliver service improvements
  • Experience of financial management including budget monitoring
  • Experience of organising own workload and managing changing priorities
  • Experience of dealing with a range of staffing issues including disciplinary, grievance, sickness and performance related issues
  • Experience of undertaking risk assessments and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation

About you

  • A good standard of education, equivalent to A-C GCSE grades.
  • High standard of numeracy and literacy skills.
  • High level of IT literacy
  • Previous experience of working in and managing a library.
