Agenda is the largest provider of Animal Technicians within the Life Science sector, so these positions are an exceptional opportunity for someone to develop in this field. We are looking for an adventurous individual who would like to contribute to the research industry while maintaining a high welfare standard.
As a Licenced Animal Technician, you will be responsible for providing a high standard of service and being expected to follow key animal care protocols to ensure the welfare of all animals within the research facility.
We are seeking both experienced licenced technicians and those who do not yet hold a licence but are looking to progress.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in working in a designated establishment with laboratory rodents
- Natural empathy towards animals and a passion for animal care and welfare
- Can work in as part of a team and independently when required
- A good communicator
- A drive to progress and develop
Desirable requirements:
- Home Office Licence A-C, or the completion of the modules required to apply for a personal licence
- Experience in supporting transgenic breeding colonies
- Competent in use of IT applications, processes and software, including MCMS

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide care and husbandry of research rodents
- Monitor and report clinical observations, phenotypes and breeding performance
- Support transgenic breeding strategies under the guidance of researchers and senior staff
- Perform oestrus checks, plug checks and weaning
- Perform or support regulated procedures, including but not limited to IP injections, sample collection, micro injections and embryo transfer.
- Support surgical technicians during surgical procedures, monitoring animal anaesthesia and recovery
- Ensuring best standards of animal welfare and researchers’ requirements are met.
- Support weekend work, typically in a 1 in 3 rota.
