We are currently recruiting for a Licensing Officer based in Garretts Green in Birmingham, initially this position will be office based but once you are fully trained a flexible / hybrid manner will be introduced for the right candidate. The rate of pay will be between 10.90 & 13.20 per hour.
Job Purpose
To process applications for licences/registration and provide a general administration support service to the licensing section.
To work closely with other staff within the licensing section, West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service, staff from other City Council Departments, members of the city council, applicants for licences and members of the public.
Duties and responsibilities
Process applications for licences under various Acts of Parliament / legislation.
To prepare basic reports and correspondence associated with the issue of licences.
To deal with telephone and personal enquiries on licensing matters.
To progress chase any matters relating to the issue of licences, including the use of associated systems including 'bring forward' systems.
To receive cash or cheques following the City's Financial Procedures.
To set up, revise and maintain manual and computerised record systems for licensing matters.
To produce statistical data on licensing matters from any record systems.
To assist in the general administrative and clerical duties of the Division, as required, including photocopying and filing.
Carry out reception duties as required.
Any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post.
Process applications relating to the Criminal Records Bureau.
Produce committee reports, appeal files, statements of witness and attend court and give formal evidence as required.
Liaise with enforcement agencies and other organisations in connection with licensing enquiries.
Assist the Enforcement Section and its Officers with enquiries as and when necessary.
