Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking for a number of Business Support and Licensing Officers to join the Selective Licensing team. This is a very exciting time as you will be part of a brand-new team, so there will be opportunities to progress and work collaboratively to improve the service. Your new role
As a Property Licensing Officer within our Property Licensing Team, you will play a crucial role in administering and enforcing the licensing of private rented accommodation under the Housing Act 2004. Your duties will encompass processing applications efficiently, serving as the primary point of contact for tenants and landlords, and offering accurate advice in compliance with legal standards. You will manage your own caseload, maintain meticulous records, and contribute to our commitment to high-quality customer service. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity and compliance of private housing within the district.
In addition, you will also support the Compliance and Complex Investigations Officers by ensuring all information is accurately recorded and up to date. Your vigilance in identifying potential risks ranging from fraud to safeguarding issues is essential, and you\'ll be expected to refer any concerns to the appropriate officer promptly. Your ability to work both independently and as part of a team, coupled with your flexibility and initiative, will be key in adapting to the varying demands of the service. Whilst the role is mainly administration based, the role will require some proactive fieldwork, involving district visits to actively identify unlicensed properties.
This role is a full-time position, working Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. As this will be a brand-new team, this role will be fully based in the office within Birmingham City Centre, however once the team has been established there may then be discussions of hybrid working.
What you\'ll need to succeed
Candidates with administration, customer service, and IT experience will benefit from this role. Knowledge of Housing Licenses will be beneficial, however not necessary as you will receive full training regarding licenses and the systems and applications that will be used. Strong attention to detail and able to work to a high volume will also be beneficial.
