General Litigation Lawyer – South East England – £55 per hour – In Person Court Attendance

Position: Civil and Criminal GeneralLitigation Lawyer

Organisation: South East based Local Authority

Duration: 3-month ongoing contract

Working Pattern: Full time

Working Arrangement: Remote with in person court attendance

Hourly Rate: £55 umbrella per hour 

Venn Group’s legal team are working with a dynamic South East based local authority to assist with their search for a General Litigation Lawyeron a locum basis.

This is an exciting opportunityfor a lawyer who is seeking to further their litigation career. The ideal candidate for this role will be either an experienced Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILExwith at least 5 years PQE, who has experience and knowledge of undertaking a full spectrum of Civil and Criminal litigation work.

Duties shall include:

1. Civil Litigation: Manage and conduct civil litigation cases, providing expert legal advice and representation in various civil disputes

1. Housing Litigation: Handle housing litigation matters, including tenancy disputes, possession claims, and other housing-related legal issues

1. Planning Prosecutions: Oversee prosecutions related to planning violations, ensuring compliance with planning laws and regulations

1. Criminal Litigation and Prosecutions: Conduct criminal litigation and prosecutions, representing the council in criminal cases and ensuring effective enforcement of legal standards

1. Environmental Prosecutions: Manage environmental prosecution cases, working to uphold environmental laws and regulations through effective legal action

1. Licensing: Provide legal advice and support on licensing matters, including applications, renewals, and enforcement of licensing regulations

1. Council Tax Law: Handle legal issues related to council tax, including disputes, enforcement actions, and advising on council tax legislation

It is thoroughly encouraged that candidates with knowledge of some areas of this but not all, and the type of people looking to expand their legal repertoire, apply for this role.

The role of Litigation Lawyer comes with a competitive hourly rate  and gives the right candidate an opportunity to grow their overall litigation legal repertoire. Local Government experience is preferable but not essential provided there is significant relevant Civil and Criminal Litigation law experience.
