Managing Director
c £100k • Based Salford
At Hilldale, we provide and manage high quality homes for people who need additional support. We offer homes for life to nearly 1,000 tenants who need help to live more independently, in their own home, in their own community and who would otherwise have difficulty finding a home elsewhere. It’s the reason we exist, and we’re totally focused on delivering this specialised service. Our unique business is built on strong relationships with more than 60 care providers operating across 59 local authorities. We acquire accommodation through a long lease model where funders and head landlords provide the buildings, and we enter a lease to use the building and offer homes for life, which we then manage and maintain.
Since we became part of the Change Housing Group in November 2020, we’ve undertaken a programme of transformation and renewal, focused on resilience, regulatory compliance and a growth plan which balances high standards of provision with manageable levels of risk. Our retiring MD leaves the business in very good shape – with a culture of continuous improvement that doesn’t leave any room for complacency – and our new Strategy 2023-2026 sets a clear vision and priorities for the business.
So, it’s an excellent time to be joining us as our new Managing Director, taking Hilldale forward and building on very firm operational and reputational foundations. Reporting to the Board, you’ll be a key contributor in shaping and delivering our business plan, organisational culture and values. We have set high standards of governance, including statutory / regulatory compliance and financial integrity, and you will ensure that these standards are upheld across the full range of our activities. A visible and influential leader, you’ll forge and nurture excellent relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders including our regulator, head landlords, care providers, service commissioners, and of course tenants and their advocates.
We want to hear from experienced professionals with relevant experience and the right skillset to lead this complex and (in some ways) unusual business. You must understand the challenges and opportunities of the lease-based sector; and a track record of leading effectively in a relatively small, lean organisation would be a definite asset. A passion for the work we do is essential. In return, you’ll have the chance to work alongside a team of inspiring, talented and driven people who truly believe in what we do, and the life-changing opportunities we offer.
