Qualification - Professional project management qualification and associations (e.g. PRINCE 2, APM) The Manchester Energy Network is located in the heart of Manchester, providing heat and power to some of the City's most iconic buildings. The Network comprises of a 2km district heating connection and an energy centre containing a CHP engine and two boilers. The Energy Centre's flue, which has been named the ‘Tower of Light’, has become a sculptural landmark in the city’s skyline and has been recognised through a number of architectural awards.
An Operations Manager position has been created to co-ordinate the implementation of day to day tasks associated with the successful running of Manchester Energy Network. The role is diverse and will be working in a fast paced, dynamic environment in order to progress a number on interdependent activities to ensure that the operation of the Network is optimised.
The role will be accountable to the newly appointed Chief Operating Officer and will work with a range of stakeholders, primarily the Manchester Energy Network Special Purpose Vehicle Board and Manchester City Council, as well as a range of specialist external consultants and Vital Energi, who are responsible for operating and maintaining the Energy Centre.
About the Candidate We are looking for a person who has the drive and the determination to ensure that the Energy Network runs smoothly and is seen as an exemplar of best practice.
Previous experience in the energy sector is not necessarily required, however, candidates should demonstrate the following through their application.
Significant experience of working in an operations and outcomes orientated role; Ability to prepare clear and concise reports on often complex subject matters for a wide range of audiences; Have the ability to work to tight deadlines and working flexibly to react to changing deadlines and situations; Work effectively and manage interdependencies with a wide range of stakeholders; Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and learn from others.
