Medical Administrator
Are you an experienced Medical Secretary looking for a new challenge? Do you have excellent skills in managing clinical documents and workflows using Docman software? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!
My client is a busy GP practice in KT8, looking for a Medical Secretary to join the Workflow team and help to streamline their document workflow and improve patient care.
As a medical administrator, you will be responsible for:
- To be able to use Emis Web (patient information system - training will be provided)
- To deal with patient enquiries, exercising initiative with regard to action necessary. To deal with tasks from GPs and clinicians.
- To prioritise all correspondence
- To be able to audio type if required
- To be able to use the choose and book, e-referral site
- To communicate and liaise with staff at all levels
- To deal with telephone enquiries from patients
- To chase up hospital appointments and referrals
- To use the computer on a daily basis to type and save all correspondence using the Practice clinical system
- To use Word software for any miscellaneous typing as required
- Enter all correspondence on to the Practice clinical system using read codes where appropriate and to log all referrals
- Arrange appointments as requested and take messages when appropriate. Deal with any telephone enquiries and always answer the telephone with a polite and professional manner
- Check on all urgent referrals that have been emailed to ensure that they have been received
- Perform any reasonable administrative tasks as requested
- Maintain any personal correspondence files as required by the Practice
- Ensure up to date maintenance of both computerised and manual filing system
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least two years of experience as a medical administrator in a GP practice or a similar healthcare setting.
- Proficient user of Docman Software
- Familiarity with EMIS Web, SystmOne, and other NHS systems and software.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a polite and professional manner.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to work as part of a team or independently.
- A clear understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements.
