About The Role
West Moors Middle School have an exciting opportunity to welcome a casual Minibus Driver to our team. The driver would be required to transport children to and from sports fixtures and the occasional educational visit. All visits will be term time only; we will aim to provide notice of at least 1 week to ensure drivers can check their availability, however, there may be occasions where you could be asked to drive at short notice.

Training will be provided and a yearly Minibus Driver’s assessment will be undertaken. Drivers will be required to have PCV licence category D1. A DBS check will also be required.
Purpose and impact
1. To convey passengers safely to and from their establishments, in accordance with the route schedule (with or assistance of an escort) having particular regard for their comfort and particular disability.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the location of the role, the duties may include any of the following:-
1. To observe all Health and Safety Regulations and Local Authority procedures including seat belt requirements, traffic regulations, evacuation procedures, fire safety on vehicles, correct use of tail-lifts, ramps, wheelchair securing devices and other equipment, emergency first aid and to respond in accordance with Directorate procedures in emergency situations.
2. To liaise with staff in West Moors Middle School with regard to passenger incidents, occurrences and any other situations including the identification of the need for a Risk Assessment to be carried out.
3. To alert West Moors Middle School to any problems, particularly those relating to vehicles and access to establishments.
4. To conduct a visual vehicle check before each journey.
5. To maintain vehicle log sheets and report any accidents which occur both verbally and in writing.
6. Any other lesser or comparable duties as required relating to the particular specialised function of the team or teams.
Supervision and management
The post holder will be required to work under direct supervision of the line manager.

The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.
The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.
This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Keeping Children Safe in Education
West Moors Middle School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
