This is a hybrid role with the expectation of up to 3 x days per week on site in Surrey County Council (SCC) offices in Reigate. The role is to support SCC on their key decarbonisation and sustainability programmes including (but not limited to):

Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the development, delivery and execution of strategies to achieve Net Zero Carbon emissions across local authority clients, specifically the SCC estate.
Undertaking detailed energy audits and feasibility studies and investigations to produce accurate, quality reports detailing the improvements necessary to reduce energy use and carbon dioxide.
Creating targeted plans for the highest carbon footprint assets and identify the most cost-effective way that carbon can be reduced in these sites.
Creating an overall carbon reduction plan that demonstrates current carbon performance and the impact of the proposed changes to SCC’s overall carbon performance and a long-term five-year carbon reduction plan that identifies how the client can achieve the 2030 Net Zero Carbon targets.
Providing technical and operational advice and support on carbon reduction and energy efficiency to all stakeholders and to monitor the energy (and associated emissions) and water consumed in the council’s portfolio of buildings, including schools.
Developing and advising on specific energy strategy/ solutions for new build and refurbishment projects and to improve existing building’s energy performance to achieve future corporate energy reduction targets.
Developing and managing the Net Zero budget, ensuring proper allocation of resources for initiatives, projects, and ongoing monitoring. Seek external funding opportunities and grants to support sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in sustainability practices.
About you
You have knowledge and practical experience across Technical Facilities Management projects. You have practical experience of environmental and social sustainability, climate change and Net Zero Carbon. You are a confident and engaging communicator, articulate and open, and comfortable when representing the company and clients in a public forum, attending internal and external events to represent and raise the profile of Mace and the practice group.
You should have excellent working knowledge of ISO 50001 and be familiar with SBTi methodologies.
