We are currently recruiting for a Technical Lead to join our IT function on a permanent basis. You will manage an impactful team whose key priority is to build software and customer experiences that drive, shape and deliver our customer-centric digital transformation.
This is a hands on role in which you will be leading from the front with expert technical knowledge in Java and product development.
What you will do:
Technical Lead for the squad, ensuring collaborative working with Product Owners, Developers, QA’s, change leads and Architects to design and build out our EIS functionality
Be well versed in Java software Development
Be a line manager (small team of 3-5 engineers)
Have expert hands on software development in Java and ensure technical standards are met throughout the team.
Working with the product owner to ensure the squad has a clear mission, balanced backlog and agile practices
Working with Architects and Principal Engineer on tech choices and architecture evolution
Improving the engineering practices in the squad including code quality, testing and CI/CD
Be a part of esure’s engineering community. Strive to actively share technical expertise with the team and champion and drive tech change wider than your squad
Qualifications
What we’d love you to bring:
A passion for people and a deep love of technology! You will consider yourself a people motivator who has led a software development squad (or small team) in an agile environment to deliver and achieve great things
Expert in backend development with Java
Experience with React is helpful
Able to coach and mentor team members and own the tech quality/standards.
Experience working with a cloud platform, ideally AWS
Understands how commercial packages work, how to extend the using the framework, make trade-offs between inside and outside development and push the boundaries
Previous background working in high traffic, highly transactional online environments
An advocate of different agile methodologies: Scrum, Kanban, TDD, BDD, continuous delivery
