Job Description:
My client is a managed service provider and are currently seeking an experienced Voice/Network Engineer to join its dynamic team. In this crucial role, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the design, implementation, security, monitoring, and maintenance of hosted telephone systems, with a specific focus on Ericsson LG's iPECS Cloud and UCP offerings. The ideal candidate will also bring expertise in networking products such as CISCO Meraki, SOPHOS, and ZyXEL.
Role & Responsibilities
System Design:
* Designs hosted voice and network systems based on client requirements.
* Evaluates and selects appropriate hardware, software, and network infrastructure components.
* Ensures scalability and reliability of hosted voice and network systems.
Implementation:
* Deploys and configures hosted voice platforms, specifically Ericsson LG's iPECS cloud.
* Sets up and deploys network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and relevant components.
* Integrates voice and data networks for seamless communication.
Security:
* Implements security measures to protect voice and data networks from unauthorized access, attacks, and vulnerabilities.
* Regularly updates and patches security systems to address emerging threats.
Monitoring and Maintenance:
* Monitors performance and availability of hosted voice and network systems.
* Identifies and resolves issues related to voice quality, network latency, and other performance metrics.
* Conducts routine maintenance tasks for smooth system operation.
Troubleshooting:
* Diagnoses and resolves issues related to voice and data connectivity.
* Investigates and troubleshoots hardware, software, and network problems.
Quality of Service (QoS):
* Implements QoS mechanisms to prioritize voice traffic for high-quality communication.
* Optimizes network configurations to minimize latency and jitter for voice applications.
Documentation:
* Maintains detailed documentation of network configurations, system designs, and infrastructure changes.
* Provides documentation for troubleshooting procedures and standard operating processes.
Collaboration:
* Collaborates with other IT teams and third parties to ensure integrated and cohesive solutions.
* Upgrades and Optimization:
* Plans and executes system upgrades for new features, improvements, and security patches.
* Optimizes network performance through continuous assessment and refinement.
User Support and Training:
* Provides remote and on-site support for end-users regarding voice and network issues.
* Conducts training sessions for users on new features, tools, and best practices.
* Maintains good relations between the company and customers to maximize repeat business.
Skills & Knowledge:
* Experienced in telephony installations, specifically iPECS Cloud.
* Network & security knowledge with a preference for CISCO, Meraki, Sophos, Zyxel.
* Knowledge of additional call center & other add-on packages.
* Up-to-date certifications.
* Thorough knowledge and experience in SIP and VoIP telephony.
* Ability to troubleshoot VoIP issues.
* Willingness to learn alternative manufacturer equipment and applications.
* Willingness to work overtime when required, both out of hours and weekends.
* Full & clean driving license.
