About Us

With us, you can achieve more - for yourself as well as the vulnerable adults you work to support. We're always looking for new ways to innovate and deliver even better services, Social Workers play an integral role in our preventative approach to Social Care. We encourage our multi-disciplinary teams to share their ideas and experience. We work together to get things done. Bring your positive, proactive attitude, and we'll empower you to make the most of your experience and develop your career within Essex County Council (ECC) Adult Social Care services.

Take a look at our Adult Social Care Brochure to find out more about ECC's Adult Social Care services.

About You

You will be studying for a Social Care Degree or Master's, qualifying in summer 2024 and will be keen to start a career within Adult Social Care. You'll bring a positive attitude and willingness to learn and a passion to help others.

The role will require you to be mobile throughout a wider operational area including travel around the county of Essex, potentially transporting service users and their belongings in an emergency. As such, a driving licence and car, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.

What we offer in return

For the first 12 months you will join other NQSW's, working within one of our frontline teams, to complete the ASYE programme. You will benefit from solution focused training and our full support throughout your ASYE year, embedding a real sense of belonging as you start your journey with us.

Following the completion of your ASYE you will have the opportunity to develop your career and continue personal development with Essex County Council, within the Adult Social Care service.

Here's what our Newly Qualified Social Workers have to say:

"I was nervous about starting my career in social work because of a difficult experience in my final placement. My ASYE has been a good experience for me because of the extra support, protected time and supervision and being in a team of people at the same stage in their career. Starting our journey at the same time and learning together."

"Since I have joined the Mid LD team as an ASYE at the start of my social work career, I have found every member of the team approachable and supportive. Being in the LD team allows you to undertake a wide range of social work responsibilities, which as an ASYE is invaluable in developing your learning and practice. We are a fortunate team to have a diverse service user group, as well as nurturing colleagues."
