OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST | Band 6 £35,392 - £42,618 per annum (pro rata)
You will provide specialist Occupational Therapy intervention and to be part of the Dorothy House Multi-disciplinary Team. This involves the assessment, treatment and monitoring of patients. To provide education, support and advice for patients, their families, the MDT and healthcare professionals from other agencies.
- To work with partner organisations and third sector groups to support patients and families with "What Matters most to them"
- To meet patient's needs holistically with specific focus on the assessment, treatment and management of their symptoms and what matters most to them
- To act in an advisory role, using the specialist knowledge regarding Occupational Therapy in palliative and end of life care.
- To manage own caseload of DH patients and to participate in managing the team caseload, including referral into and discharge from the caseload
- To formulate and review personalised treatment care plans that promote health and wellbeing and take account of the patient's physical, cognitive, spiritual, psychological and educational needs
- To work alongside the Clinical Lead of the team to identify risk assessments that enable the management of risk when undertaking Occupational Therapy
- To teach self-management techniques to patients, their carers and health care professionals
- To develop and participate in revision of relevant policies, procedures, protocols, care pathways and documentation for the Dorothy House service
- To mentor and support student Occupational Therapists on placement at DH.
- To participate (and lead where appropriate) in auditing, evaluation and service improvements and developments of the Occupational Therapy and Day service
- To line manage, supervise and provide mentorship to junior members of the team and across Day Services. Including PDR's, 1:1 meetings, and identifying learning and development opportunities
- To evaluate own and team's practice suggesting new and innovative ways of working and agreed with the Clinical Lead

HOURS OF WORK
This is a Part Time position 22.5 Hours per week
Due to the nature of this role, you will be working across both our community and within our In Patient Unit (IPU) at our Winsley Hospice.
ABOUT YOU
Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to travel to patient's home addresses. Therefore, the successful applicant will require a full driving license with access to a vehicle.
Essential requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT)
- Professional State Registration (HCPC)
- At least 2 years post qualification experience
- Experience of working as part of an MDT, including with external agencies
- Experience of preparing and delivering presentations and teaching sessions to patients and other healthcare professionals
- Physically fit to practice hands on clinical skills and flexibly respond to covering of all areas of the OT role
- An understanding of the unique pressures presented by working with patients living with life limiting illness.
- Valid driving licence and access to a car
Desirable requirements:
- Post Graduate training in palliative care
- Experience of participation in audit
- Specialist palliative care experience or knowledge
