Doctors Direct have new opportunities for Consultants with Old Age Psychiatry experience. We have multiple roles at many sites across Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust providing community, inpatient and outpatient mental health care and learning disability inpatient services.
In this role you’ll diagnose and treat acute illnesses, chronic diseases, disability, and frailty. Your patients will often have several medical conditions and be taking a number of different medicines. Some common conditions you’ll might treat include:
- fractures
- delirium
- dementia
- incontinence
- poor mobility
- frailty
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll work closely with medical colleagues including GPs and other hospital doctors as well as experts in the community such as social workers. Your ability to collaborate and work well with others will be vital.
The role demands a strong sense of compassion and the ability to adopt a holistic, patient-centric approach. You’ll provide rehabilitation after illness and need a comprehensive knowledge of physical treatments, adaptations, and aids.
Responsibilities will include:
- You will have input into various aspects of this well-established Older Adult Mental Health service, carrying out assessments and implementing treatment plans for patients with both organic and functional illnesses.
- Providing specialist assessment and care planning in conjunction with service users and carers.
- Evaluating treatment plans and undertaking discharge planning.
- Responsible Clinician duties within the community team.
- Being responsible for an agreed case load.
- Responding to and informing referrers other professionals as necessary on decisions, care plans, policy, and best practice.
- Providing clinical leadership within a collective leadership model.
- Active participation in continuing professional development activities.
Details about the Role:
- Specialty required: Old Age Psychiatry.
- Locations: Bolton, Prestwich, Salford, Wigan, North, South & Central Manchester.
- Start Date: ASAP-ongoing, no end date yet.
- Days per week: Monday-Friday (our client will accept part time doctors 2-3 days per week).
- Shift Pattern: 9:00-17:00, including on call occasionally.
- Pay rate: £100-£120 per hour (depending on experience).
- Payment method: PAYE we do NOT facilitate payment through LTD/umbrella companies
You will need to have the following key skills and experience:
- To have a genuine passion for working with Older Adults.
- To be able to work well in a team.
- To have excellent leadership qualities.
- To provide evidenced based care that is recovery focused.
The minimum requirements for the role are:
- Valid GMC.
- Right to work in the UK (we DO NOT provide sponsorship).
- Clinical attachment complete.
- Minimum 3 months paid UK experience.
- AC Status essential.
- S12 desirable.
Our client will consider international doctors who do not have paid UK experience in areas’ whereby there is high demand, however you MUST meet the following requirements:
- Minimum 10 years international Old Age Psychiatry experience – essential (this must be detailed in your CV).
- Valid GMC – essential.
- Right to work in the UK – essential (we DO NOT provide sponsorship).
- Excellent in verbal and written English – essential.
- Clinical attachment complete – desirable.
