Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an Operations and Logistics Manager to join a hugely successful business based in Sherburn in Elmet.

The Role

To Maximise the Operations and Logistics of the Business, to make the smooth running more efficient and cost effective, by saving money with good planning and organisation skills.

A key position working alongside HR/ Wages Team, Projects Team, Procurement, Stores, also leading the Transport Department of Transport Manager and Transport & Logistics Coordinator, planning the daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly smooth running of the vehicles, trailers, and Plant.

Duties

• Use Holiday Sheet / Reflow to ensure labour allocated will be available, ensure all holidays booked through HR/Wages.
• Be responsible for Logistics and Transport Planning
• Assisting the Operations Team with advice on the daily requests received by delegating.
• Keeping up to date with the Operations mailbox emails
• Allocate any chargeable Haulage on relevant spreadsheet, ensure invoiced by passing to accounts.
• Guide internal team to schedule projects, coordination & site crew.
• Liaising with site crew and managers when needed if information not received from Projects.
• Guide internal team to Liaising with drivers from arrival to office tracking and handover to late shift, weekend shift when required.
• Designate a member of Internal Team for Out of hours Operations / projects so we have a contact for shortfalls, problems, hotel etc, put this person on the Day Sheet
• Arrange and plan ahead subby drivers work with Transport Manager to ensure inductions and Insurance documents correct.
• Arrange and plan hire vehicles using Transport Manager to ensure insurance documents correct.
• Liaising with yard crew tasking them each evening, create Job Sheets daily for them and put time to internal projects and equipment.
• Take One on Ones with your team once yearly with HR present, HR to do 2nd One on One with a Director.
• Manage and plan the booking of crew and keep to a limit where possible.
• Oversee all travel arrangements.
• Keeping All live spreadsheets up to date teaching Internally to staff so process and procedures are followed.
• Producing reports and documentation
• Re-flow management Schedule / Users / Forms
  • Identify any areas of improvement where you feel the company and team could benefit.
  • Coordinate Operations meetings at least three times a week, and manage timelines to ensure that project work is delivered on time,
  • Yard To Do List labour allocated and Job Sheets, time critical, with labour required and also Procurement.
  • Assist Procurement with finding best prices suppliers for all requirements to assist and speed up the purchase process.

Requirements

• Strong time management skills.
• The ability to communicate at all levels.
• Good working knowledge of computers, Excel, and Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
• Problem solving
• Professional manner, positive attitude, helpful approach, and good sense of humour.
• Follow through with Procedures that are in place.
• Teach the various teams to assist you with the many tasks required.

Transport Duties

Focus

You will be responsible for Transport Department and its staff, who will in turn help you to provide the efficient management of our team of drivers and fleet and for ensuring our fleet is properly maintained and always serviced and inspected externally including MOTs. You will also oversee and instruct the fitters on site to complete daily inspections of plant.
