Bodycote is now embarking on the next phase of its ERP Programme to further support driving the business to new levels of customer service and increased profitability. This is without doubt one of the biggest global programme of its type. It will be based on the SAP S4/Hana platform and will span 23 countries and over 160 locations worldwide.

To support the programme there are several key roles on the programme for senior people with a wide knowledge of the Bodycote plant operations.

As part of the Business Operations Stream, you will play a cradle to grave role on the programme from design, through build and test, on to pilots and subsequent rollout across all plants in Bodycote. The role will be varied as we move though the phases of the programme lifecycle.

In addition to your valuable input to the programme, you will need to be the programme champion outwards to the business, earning their buy in, support and backing,

This is a critical and exciting role that will shape the future of Bodycote’s processes and supporting systems for years to come.

Main responsibilities:

Model Deployment Phase (The Pilot Sites & Pilot Legal Entities)

  • Understand the SAP processes and how they apply to the Bodycote operations, identifying any gaps
  • Identify changes required for Bodycote to adopt the standard and developed processes
  • Investigate and provide options and propose solutions if gaps are identified
  • When there is new functionality, test & validate the delivered solution
  • Confirm and refine required changes in the existing business to adopt the “to be” solution, processes, ways of working and job roles
  • Field issues and queries and propose further solutions for addressing the challenges as they arise
  • Identify pre-requisite work and tasks that are required to be completed at each plant
  • Define work packages, instructions, and outcomes for these tasks
  • Provide timings and size estimates for the tasks
  • Trial the work packages on the model sites and refine
  • Support and input to the preparation of training material
  • Support each of the pilot sites on the run up to, cut over and post go live
  • Identify improvements to and gaps in the work packages and refine / include for the rollout

Global Rollout

  • Work with the plants to plan and execute all the pre-requisite work packages ahead of the implementation
  • Support the plants on managing the required changes
  • Be the plants voice on the project, single point of contact for any issues and communication channel into the project
  • Get the plant prepared and ready for go live
  • Provide the necessary status reports for each plant.
  • Support the plant in the go live readiness assessment.

Qualifications, experience and skills:

  • Experience: Broad knowledge project implementation in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Analysis: Excellent analytical skills, problem solving capabilities and willingness to challenge the norm and offer alternative solutions
  • Management: Ability to manage several streams of concurrent work at different stages and deliver to planned timescales
  • Communications: Must be a good communicator. Strong verbal and written skills with high level of attention to detail
  • Documentation: The ability to create clear and concise documentation
  • Development: Contribute to the team developing the appropriate skill and knowledge levels to support the roll out
  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to influence, establish credibility and assert authority when appropriate in an effective and inclusive manner
