About the role:
Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a major waste management and energy company to recruit for an Operations Manager to join their Brand new 49MW energy from Waste Power Station in Essex which is still in construction phase.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the Plant Manager you will:
* Overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the plant
* The day-to-day management of operations staff including shift teams and operations day staff.
* Working closely with the EPC contractor during construction and commissioning phase of the plant as well as discussing training plans for the operations team
* Ensuring the EfW plant always operates and complies within environmental regulations.
* Liaising with the Maintenance Manager and other relevant personnel regarding projects maintenance, outages, and programming of plant improvements
* Overseeing 3rd party contractors
* Preparing the annual budget for the operations department for review and work within this budget
* Liaising with company directors and managers as well as external stakeholders such as contractors, principal client and the environmental agency
* Working with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager in the recruitment of the O&M Team
* Deputising for the Plant Manager when required
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Ideally a HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
* A formal health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH
* Ideally have HV Senior Authorised Person status
Experience, skills and knowledge:
The Operations Manager role would suit someone who has:
* Extensive operations experience in heavy process engineering environments such as power generation (EfW, Biomass, CHP, CCGT, Coal), Petrochemicals, COMAH sites, Refineries, Paper Mills, etc.
* Experience in managing budgets and in the training and development of staff
* Knowledge of environmental permits, H&S issues and safe working environments
* Excellent leadership skills
