Operations Supervisor - Cnc Machine Cell Manufacturing

A renowned Aerospace Engineering organisation requires an Operations / Shift Supervisor to join their Machine Cell Manufacturing department in the Uxbridge, Middlesex (West London).

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of operators and ensure that output / production targets are achieved through efficient deployment of people and machine capacity. To ensure machine tools produce parts and components to the required quality standards and in accordance with required work schedules.

Key Responsibilities - Shift / Operations Supervisor

• Responsible for the allocation of work and efficient deployment of people and machines to ensure that all work is completed in accordance with the 'work to' list and other production priorities.
• Supervision of the team including:
  a) answer queries and resolve technical problems raised by the team and ensure their skills are developed and enhanced
• b) ensure team work safely and in accordance with H&S regulations and site policies and procedures; report any dangerous practices and other dangers such as faulty equipment
  c) ensure that appropriate work standards are achieved and maintained
• d) provide feedback to the Team Leader on improvements in operating procedures and systems
  e) solve problems and make decisions within the Shift Supervisors authority to ensure minimal productivity loss
  f) during the weekend running, sole responsibility for the shift is undertaken
  g) undertake operator appraisals, first-line disciplinary and H&S Risk / COSHH assessments
• Conduct daily team briefings reviewing performance against KPI, work allocation, problems with output, quality issues, workload and priorities.
• Responsible for the efficient set-up and running of all machines / equipment in the Cell following standard operating procedures and work instructions.
• Produce components and parts from technical drawings and specifications.
• Report machine stoppage / problems quickly and efficiently, seeking advice where necessary.
• Ensure components produced on the cell are inspected to the required quality procedures, including 1st off, last offs, routines and critical dimensions. Use of CMM and conventional measuring techniques will be required.
• Carry out standard maintenance, lubrication (daily and weekly), cleaning and checking according to plan including loading and unloading of materials and parts

Skills and Experience - Shift / Operations Supervisor

• Machine shop experience from an engineering background.
• Experience of operating / programming CNC machines and tool setting.
• Experience of deburring, use of hand tools and inspection techniques
• Supervisory experience desirable
• Good communication and manual dexterity.
• A meticulous and accurate approach.
