Job description

Owen Reed is looking to recruit a forward-thinking and Professional Paralegal in International Arbitration to join a top law firm in London.

General Responsibilities*

  • Provide high-quality paralegal support to Partners, Counsel and Associates.
  • Project manage all paralegal aspects of assigned cases working directly with legal teams across offices.
  • Proactively manage and coordinate projects and competing deadlines across multiple cases.
  • Work independently or as part of a team on all paralegal aspects of assigned cases and hearings.
  • Advise legal teams on best practice approach to procedural and administrative aspects of cases including legal filings, document productions and hearings.
  • Undertake exhibit preparation and quality-checking as well as uploading of finalised materials.
  • File arbitration and court documents.
  • Maintain hard-copy and electronic case files as well as procedural correspondence.
  • Cite-check and proofread drafts and coordinate this process with others where necessary.
  • Manage projects with external vendors including logistics for the organisation of in-person, hybrid and virtual hearings.
  • Attend arbitration and court hearings to provide paralegal and logistics support.
  • Any other reasonable duty in line with the level of the role as required.

 

Essential Qualification, Skills and Experience

  • Candidates must hold an undergraduate or postgraduate law degree.
  • A minimum of 18 months’ experience in a paralegal role within an arbitration environment is essential.

Essential Qualities

  • Significant knowledge of legal terminology, legal principles and procedural aspects of arbitration.
  • Outstanding communication skills and proactive approach to working as part of a legal team.
  • Advanced computer literacy and familiarity with software products used in a legal environment.
  • Willingness to work extended hours (including weekends) during busy periods.
  • Team player who is supportive of, and can work closely and proactively with, colleagues across multiple offices.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and expectations.
  • Professional approach and an ability to represent the Firm to external clients.
  • Excellent organisational and timekeeping skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Prioritise and plan work effectively to meet the expectations of internal and external clients.
  • High level of attention to detail to produce accurate and error-free work.

Hours of Work

35-hour week, normally based on working 09:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday, with a requirement to work extended hours to meet the needs of the Firm. This role qualifies for the Firm’s hybrid working policy, which allows for at least three days office attendance and two days working remotely (within commutable distance of the office).
