Job purpose:
To prepare accounts and tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, rental accounts and limited companies.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Prepare sole trader and partnership accounts and self assessment tax returns from prime records on Iris software.
2. Prepare rental accounts and self assessment tax returns from prime records on Iris software or excel spreadsheets where appropriate.
3. Prepare limited company accounts and corporation tax returns on Iris software from prime records for review by a Partner.
4. Prepare VAT returns from prime records on Sage or excel spreadsheets where appropriate.
5. Liaise directly with clients to obtain the necessary information to complete company accounts and tax returns and VAT returns in a timely manner to meet filing and payment deadlines.
6. Assist Partners with audit work which will frequently be carried out at client premises.
Skills and knowledge
Accounting qualification.
Knowledge of double entry book keeping
Must be able to prepare basic accounts from prime records
Tax knowledge sufficient to prepare basic corporation tax computations and self assessment tax returns for sole trader / partnership businesses, rental accounts and directors of limited companies
Knowledge of audit processes (desirable but not essential)
Experience
At least 2 years experience of accounts and tax work
