PART TIME Payroll Officer position available in North Derbyshire working for an established organisation for an initial 12 month contract. Working Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and reporting into the Payroll Manager you will be responsible for:
To provide an effective and efficient payroll and pension service and to ensure that employees are paid accurately and promptly in accordance with the policies and procedures, whilst maintaining legislative compliance. Maintain pay records, payroll feeder systems and payroll systems in accordance with financial regulations and Data Protection legislation and the policies and procedures of the company.

  • Maintain accuracy and compliance when processing data to deliver accurate and timely payments to recipients of all payrolls.
  • Take end to end processing responsibility for collating and validating all payroll data to achieve accurate gross to net payments.
  • Communicate effectively with, and provide excellent customer service to, all stakeholders on all pay related matters and ensure that employees are aware of internal/external deadlines.
  • Process and maintain records on HR and payroll systems to ensure accurate record keeping and the correct retention of documentation in line with the financial regulations and with legislation.
  • Manage multiple deadlines for variable data and manage each payroll throughout the pay cycle.
  • Process and calculate statutory payments.
  • Implement and maintain salary sacrifice schemes in line with occupational policies and legislative requirements.
  • Process and calculate occupational payments in line with the individual's Terms and Conditions.
  • Deal with queries from pension administrators and other external organisations, including HMRC.
  • Process starters and leavers and permanent changes promptly and accurately through the payroll and organise pay adjustments where necessary. Notify the Finance Manager of the need to recall BACS payments to prevent overpayments of salary.
  • Process temporary variations to pay promptly and accurately through the payroll and organise pay adjustments where necessary.
  • Process the maintenance of pension records in line with the relevant regulations set out by the Pension schemes including Auto-enrolment.
  • Complete accurate pension/pay returns, both estimate and final, for the pension provider(s) in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the payroll feeder system and process the extraction of data for RDS variable payments and Wholetime overtime and the subsequent upload for payment.
  • Maintain accurate sickness absence records, advising employees of the change from full to half/nil pay as appropriate. Be aware of welfare issues and the need to maintain confidentiality when liaising with the relevant sections.
  • Setting and delivering priorities to achieve, promptly and accurately, all necessary changes to the payroll, both individually and as a team.
  • Implement and verify changes to employee payroll records in accordance with notifications received from HR & Legal Services, ensuring that information required for end of year processing is accurate e.g. Annual Pension Benefit Statements.
  • Implement changes to statutory and voluntary deductions from all payrolls, ensuring correct verification of authority.


This role is being offered on a part time fixed term contract basis. The company require someone to work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for a 12 month period. Offering free onsite parking and a modern working environment. Due to the nature of this role a back ground/security check will be required.
