Job description

To assist the team in the smooth running of the Pension department and to provide a prompt, efficient and effective Pension and Payroll service.
The post holder has responsibility for supporting the Trust’s Pension Service, liaising between the NHS Pension agency the payroll department, employees of the Trust and other organisations for whom the department provide a pension service. The post holder provides Pension’s advice to the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (5100 staff).
Support the development and implementation of procedural guidelines to ensure an effective and efficient Pension Administration service is provided and adequately maintained
Provide specialist information, interpretation and expert guidance to managers and staff at all levels on all aspects of the NHS Pensions Scheme. Notification is made by telephone, email, letter, personally on one to one basis, team meetings and by presentations to groups of staff. The post holder is able to refer more complex pension queries to the Pension Manager as appropriate
Keep up to date with all changes to the NHS Pension Scheme, pension legislation, pension provision and developments in pensions, and to be aware of the implications on all aspects of employee’s pensions
Ensure effective liaison and communication is maintained, utilising all available communication methods as required including written responses, (routine, ad-hoc and complex), email, telephone, personal representation, meetings, written and verbal reports. Regularly review standard letters used and monitor responses to enquiries evaluating their clarity and maintenance of a professional image. In addition use these methods to effectively liaise with all external bodies including insurance companies, Benefits Agency, DWP, other NHS bodies, other pension providers on all aspects of pensions

Ensure that documentation in respect of the NHS Pension Scheme is maintained in respect of all employees and liaise with the Pensions Agency on pension matters when required
Ensure the quality of service provided to all customers is maintained at a consistently high level and maintain appropriate quality monitoring measure
Accurately compute and process pension payments in accordance with established policies and procedure
Collaborate with relevant departments to obtain necessary data for pension calculations and ensure timely disbursements.
