This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing corporate policy & Scrutiny team working at the heart of a newly established council.
Working principally to manage the Cumbria Police, Fire and Crime Panel (PFCP) you will support and drive the effective scrutiny of the work of the Cumbria Police, Crime and Fire Commissioner, helping ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of policing and fire and rescue services across Cumbria.
You will work closely with Councillors from Westmorland & Furness Council, Cumberland Council, independent panel members and the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner to develop and deliver an annual work programme for the panel that ensures it meets it legal duties and has a positive impact on shaping and improving these vital public services.
This will include planning reviews, carrying out research and collecting evidence, drafting reports and briefing papers, and providing procedural advice to Members and officers. In addition to this you will also be responsible for lead task groups linked to the panel’s work.
As part of wider policy and scrutiny team you will also have opportunity to get involved in other areas of the council’s business.
