Manufacturing Process Technical Manager.   Materials Science, Polymer Chemist, Materials Engineer sector job vacancy managing the manufacturing process definition and production process configuration over the Polymer Composites manufacturing production lifecycle.  The Polymer Composites Technical Manager will be the link between composites manufacturing engineers, polymer process engineers and customers during production process reconfiguration.  This is an opportunity to learn and understand a specialist Polymer Composites manufacturing process, and guide colleagues and customers during production manufacturing process reconfiguration.  Key activities include:

·The ability to understand the effects of proposed manufacturing process changes, e.g. using different production engineering equipment, changing the process parameters, or changes to materials.  

·Communication with colleagues & customers to agree production process configuration changes.

·Use PFMEA and FMEA to investigate and define the effects of proposed changes to the Polymer Composites manufacturing process.  Update and own the configuration documentation.

·The Polymer Composites Technical Manager will spend time in manufacturing areas, attend management meetings and spend time face to face (and video) with customers.

The skills and abilities needed for the Polymer Composites Technical Manager:

·An understanding of Polymer Composites and the manufacturing of polymeric structural components.

·A technical degree centred on materials science, process engineering, polymer chemistry degree or chemical engineering degree, or a mechanical engineering degree with experience in Polymer Composites or aerospace manufacturing or similar.

·The ability to communicate with customers and colleagues positively to influence the team effort.

·The ability to communicate factual data succinctly in verbal and written formats.

·A positive attitude to finding solutions with customers and colleagues, and to be seen as an approachable person than can influence a matrix of colleagues and customers towards acceptable changes to the Polymer Composites manufacturing configuration changes proposed.
