An exciting opportunity has become available with our prestigious client who is a prominent government department. The client is seeking an experienced Principal Network Specialist to join their welcoming team.
The Principal Network Specialist Role:
? Day to day management of the organisations wireless LAN, WAN, including the network devices and security devices that are deployed
? Manage a team of network engineers, including recruitment, training, and yearly performance reviews
? Design & implement new services as and when required
? Second/third line support and problem solving for the organisations internal network
? Physical and technical implementation of network services to enhance networking and security elements
? Develop process & procedures for engineers to ensure a secure and robust environment for the organisations users with KPIs in place is maintain this level
? Develop automation for patching and configuration of; Switches, Firewalls, WLAN infrastructure
? Work with cloud technologies for migration of existing systems and implementing new solutions
? Work out of normal office hours/be on call when necessary
? Manage escalated Incidents and Problems from the Live Service through to resolution
? Change control activities within the networking infrastructure, working with change managers to enhance the change process
? Document/configure management of networking infrastructure
? Work within technical compliance management to co-operate with technologies, such as PSN and Cloud computing etc
? Develop and possibly carry out security testing techniques for network infrastructure
The Principal Network Specialist will need:
? Strong experience in LAN and Wireless LAN networking design
? Team Management experience
? Strong experience in WAN networking using BGP, OSPF
? Strong experience with design and implementation of Wireless and Wired networks
? Strong experience with design/implementation of security devices (VPN Gateways and clients, Firewalls and Unified Threat Management Devices)
? Experience using infrastructure as code to setup and configure networking devices
? Strong knowledge of networking concepts/technologies and of network implementation and operation
? Experience of change management processes
? Experience configuring and troubleshooting Layer 7 firewalls.
? Juniper, Palo Alto, Cisco and Fortinet Firewalls, Routing and Switching
? Cisco and Extreme wireless LAN.
? Understanding of Cybersecurity
? Strong knowledge of PKI and IPSec
? Strong understanding of encryption protocols and cipher suites
